FOUNDATIONAL STAGE : Cultural Fiesta - Ramleela Darshan
Our Tinytots of Pre-Primary classes enthusiastically participated in the Ramleela Darshan, celebrating the spirit of Dussehra. The children beautifully enacted scenes from the life of Lord Rama, showcasing values of truth, kindness, and bravery.
Staging a Ramleela performance by foundational level students was a wonderful way to foster their growth across all five domains of developmentâphysical, socio-emotional, cognitive, language, and aesthetic. This activity not only introduced children to cultural heritage but also provided a platform for holistic learning experience and skill-building.
1. Physical Development
Activities Involved: Rehearsals, stage movements, and enacting scenes.
Benefits: Children enhanced their motor skills through coordinated actions like walking, running, or performing gestures. Dancing and choreographed movements further improve balance, flexibility, and spatial awareness.
2. Socio-Emotional Development
Activities Involved: Teamwork during rehearsals, role-playing, and interacting with peers.
Benefits: Students learnt to collaborate, share responsibilities, and empathize with the characters they portrayed. Playing roles like Ram, Sita, or Hanuman helped them understand emotions like courage, kindness, and loyalty, fostering emotional intelligence.
3. Cognitive Development
Activities Involved: Memorizing song and cues to act, understanding the storyline, and problem-solving during rehearsals.
Benefits: Children developed memory, focus, and critical thinking as they learnt their lines and sequences. Understanding the moral lessons of Ramleela sharpened their reasoning and decision-making skills.
4. Language Development
Activities Involved: Delivering dialogues or singing, narrating scenes, and participating in group discussions.
Benefits: Students improve their vocabulary and communication skills. Performing in front of an audience boosts their confidence in public facing and expressive gestures alongwith the literary piece.
5. Aesthetic and Cultural Development
Activities Involved: Designing/ deciding costumes, creating props, and performing traditional music or dance.
Benefits: Exposure to art and culture enhanced creativity and imagination. Understanding the cultural significance of Ramleela instils a sense of pride and appreciation for heritage.
